Fashionable Friday....not my usual post

Friday, December 13, 2013

It HIT me BIG time this morning as I rummaged through my closet today for an outfit to wear that was not gym related and they were very scarce.

As a stay at home mother (AKA soccer mom AKA personal chauffeur AKA personal chef AKA financial planner AKA housekeeper AKA....the list goes on.....) I realized that I no longer have a sense of fashion.  I'm sure I am not the only woman/mother out there that has lost herself in her family (which can be a good/bad thing).

This has GOT to change.... (not the first time I said this)

Task List
1.  Figure out what my style is (must me child ready, comfy, weather forgiving and fashionable).

I decided to look on pintrest to get started and I think I hit the nail on the head after the first click.
I saw this beautiful outfit and the statement listed with it and clicked away to just my style.  Although I may not be able to purchase the exact items (price is always taken into consideration) I can try to recreate this outfits and other outfits that fit who I am and what I want people to see me as.......This is just the beginning of my Fashionable Friday!!!

You are never too old or have too many kids to dress beautiful!!!

Weekend in review +snowday

Monday, December 9, 2013

Hey everyone...I made it through the weekend.  I didn't totally complete my to do list but I did make a dent in it and had fun at the same time.

I didn't get a chance to work on any of my sewing projects (curtains) or get any laundry done over the weekend but I did get the following done.

1.  Paint the kitchen pantry.  I decided to paint it a similar color as the kitchen.  If anyone said that painting is an easy job they LIED!!!!  It's not rocket science but it I give my RESPECT to all the painters out there.

The color was previously beige (not sire what it's called as it was painted by the previous owners)and now it is grey...Gravity by Valspar.

2.  Paint closet office

The color was previously beige (not sure what it's called as it was painted by the previous owners) and now it is Super White by Benjamin Moore.

3.  Attend my son's basketball game.  His team did an awesome job.  Here he is #10

4.  My family didn't get to enjoy christmas festivities but we did get to enjoy the first snow of the season which was a lot more fun and less hectic than go out on the town with a 2, 5 and 7 year old.
And with this snow came a snow day so the kids got to stay home today, I caught up on laundry and house work and we all went out for PIZZA PIZZA!!!

As you can tell we all enjoyed the snow.  Although we were not prepared for it (no snow boots or proper snow gear) we endured the weather and reaped all of the benefits.

How productive was your weekend?

Weekend to do list....12/7/2013

Saturday, December 7, 2013

With Christmas approaching everyone is trying to get their house in order because as soon as Christmas is over it will be Jan 1, 2014.
This weekend I have a few small projects to tackle in addition to my sons basketball game, educational time and a festive outing with the family.

1.  Paint the kitchen pantry white (I originally wanted grey but I opted for the easy way out).  By the way I just had wooden shelves installed because the wire shelves were pulling from the wall and warped.

2.  Paint my closet office/storage closet white (keep it simple and bring POPS of color in with storage cubes and accent decor).  Same here...there were originally wire shelves in this closet but they were pulling from the wall thanks to my son climbing on them.

3.  Finish hemming and sewing curtains.

Although, I have other little things to do around the house like clean the bathrooms and cook I am not including those in my list because they are a continuous project that will never end....LOL.

So, until Monday Morning....Happy weekend!

A BIG project....Bathroom Reveal

Monday, December 2, 2013

Many of you know my family and I recently moved to Maryland and purchased a previously owned home.  Overall, I like the home but it needed a few updates and my little touch to make it a Taylor home.

The biggest project that needed to be tackle was the Master Bathroom.  Everything about the bathroom was hideous and dated (to us)...the color, the fixtures, the flooring and the space.  My opinion of the bathroom was so bad I never entered it without shower shoes although I had t professionally cleaned and I cleaned it myself frequently.

Doc and I knew that the bathroom would be our first big project and so we hired someone to tackle it head on (Sorry we are not that type of DIY family, although I wish we were.)
After interviewing various companies we finally settled on a local guy who owned his own business that were referred to us by a couple we met at a mutual friends party and we have NO REGRETS!

The finished project.  Still needs to be decorated but I can finally take a shower without shower shoes....AMEN!!!!

TOTALLY AWESOME!

I am so glad DOc and I decided to redo our bathroom.  It was so much fun shopping for tiles, fixtures and paint and of course perusing pintrest for great ideas.

Are you thinking about a taking on a big project?  Please share!!!
